Superbloom Shines at 2025 European Garden Awards

Grant Associates has been awarded Second Prize in the category “Design or Concept of a Contemporary Park or Garden” at the 2025 European Garden Award for its work on Superbloom, the large-scale floral display and thriving natural landscape that encircled the Tower of London.

The award was presented during a ceremony held at Schloss Dyck in Germany, and organised by the European Garden Heritage Network (EGHN) and the Schloss Dyck Foundation. Superbloom was praised by judges for its innovative planting design, public impact, and creative reimagining of a historic landscape.

Commissioned by Historic Royal Palaces, Superbloom was launched in 2022 to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Working in collaboration with Nigel Dunnett, the project introduced over 20-million seeds into the moat to create an immersive and evolving floral experience, drawing more than a million visitors in its first season.

Designed to be both visually spectacular and ecologically rich, the installation sought to re-establish the moat as a biodiverse habitat and a contemporary visitor destination.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition from the European Garden Award jury,” said Andrew Grant, Director at Grant Associates. “Superbloom demonstrates the potential for landscape architecture to revitalise historic environments and transform underused green urban spaces into rich biodiverse environments, connecting people with nature in new and imaginative ways.”

The award is testament to Grant Associates’ ongoing commitment to innovative and sustainable landscape architecture that enhances both environmental value and visitor experience.

Launched in 2010, the European Garden Award highlights exemplary garden and landscape projects across Europe, with a focus on contemporary design, heritage management, and green infrastructure.

The 2025 edition placed special emphasis on projects that demonstrate a strong conceptual foundation, social engagement, and environmental sustainability.
