Meet the team: Pascal Tan, Senior Landscape Architect

Pascal’s interest in the built environment began during his Secondary School years as a member of the Environmental Club - an experience that sparked an early appreciation for how human actions shape our surroundings. This awareness led him to pursue a Diploma in Landscape Architecture at Singapore Polytechnic, a decision he remains grateful for as it set the foundation for his career in design.

He first joined Grant Associates during a short break between National Service and university, later returning after graduation drawn by the studio’s creativity, diverse projects, and collaborative culture.

Pascal is fascinated by how design influences human behaviour and well-being. He believes subtle, intentional interventions can shape positive habits, support mental health, and strengthen community awareness of social and environmental issues.

Pascal is especially interested in how design influences human behaviour and well-being. He is fascinated by the psychology of space - how thoughtfully designed environments can shape everyday actions, foster inclusivity, and enhance mental health. His belief in the power of subtle, intentional design interventions to inspire social and environmental awareness continues to guide his approach to every project.

His design process is rooted in exploration through 3D representation - a tool he uses to test ideas, shape form, and communicate concepts clearly. Whether developing early-stage concepts or detailing later phases, his workflow is guided by curiosity, adaptability, and precision.

Pascal’s advice to aspiring landscape architects is to stay curious, self-motivated, and open to continuous learning. The field rewards those who embrace both creativity and technical skill - using evolving tools and independent problem-solving to bring meaningful, human-centred landscapes to life.
