Grant Associates shortlisted to deliver UK pavilion at Milan Expo 2015
A British design team led by Grant Associates is amongst the creative innovators from the worlds of design, food, technology, music and science shortlisted to deliver the UK Pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015.
Eight teams have been shortlisted from over 85 expressions of interest. The winning team will be asked to highlight world class British research, innovation, entrepreneurship and international development interventions contributing to improving the quality of people’s lives and meeting the global challenge of feeding the planet under the working title - ‘Grown in Britain: Shared Globally’.
Over 130 countries are expected to take part at the Universal Expo with the theme ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’. A total of 20 million visitors are anticipated at the Expo, which runs from May to October 2015.
Grant Associates was part of the UK Pavilion design team at the Aichi Expo in Japan 2005, based on the theme ‘Nature’s Wisdom’, which featured a garden to recreate the romantic British landscape.
The other creative partners in Grant Associates’ team include Wilkinson Eyre, Seawater Greenhouse, Cornwall Food Foundation, Atelier One, Atelier Ten, Thomas Matthews, Senneep, Five Hats and Buro Four.
Andrew Grant, director of Grant Associates, said: “We’re delighted and honoured to have been shortlisted for this prestigious project. We are firm believers in the power of creative collaboration and this Expo has allowed us to assemble an extraordinary team responding to the theme of food in the future. ”
The shortlisted teams will be invited to share presentations in April.
