Grant Associates scoops gold at Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects Awards

Grant Associates has scooped two gold awards at the 2015 Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects (SILA) Awards.

The Bath and Singapore based landscape architect’s ecotourism strategy for Endau Rompin, Malaysia’s second largest National Park, won the Gold Award in the SILA ‘Masterplanning’ category.

In collaboration with environmental consultancies Biodiversity by Design and PEERS Consult, Grant Associates developed an ecotourism and environmental framework strategy to facilitate sustainable development within the park and wider region.

Grant Associates also took the Gold Award for its landscape design strategy in the category ‘Educational Institutions’ for the Headquarters and College Centre buildings at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore.

The practice’s designs for ITE included a series of sunken gardens, vertical gardens, planted plinths and aerial walkways to connect the new buildings to the wider campus’ landscape.

SILA also singled out Grant Associates for a merit award in recognition of the firm’s contribution to the masterplan for Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), Kuala Lumpur’s new international financial district.

“We are very proud to receive these awards from SILA, particularly because of the exceptionally high standard of this year’s submissions,” comments Mike Wood, senior associate at Grant Associates. “It's been a great year for landscape architecture in Singapore with the start of the SILA Accreditation program. We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to the increasing number of project opportunities for Grant Associates here in South East Asia.”

SILA’s biennial awards, which were presented at the Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel, are now in their 10th year. 2015 represents the first year that Grant Associates has entered the SILA Awards programme.
