Grant Associates to present at event for Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design

Andrew Grant, director and founder of landscape architect Grant Associates, is to present at a high-profile forum about place-making that is one of series of events marking Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design.

Andrew will take part in the sixth annual forum of the Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN), which will explore the role played by artists and designers in creating vibrant places for people to live in and enjoy. The one-day event will take place on 21st June 2016 at the Glasgow School of Art.

In his presentation, Andrew will look at the importance of inspiring the imagination and forging closer connections to nature to strengthen communities and create special places. He will draw on his extensive masterplanning and landscape design experience, drawing on the firm’s projects from Sheffield University to Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay.

Other speakers at the event include Wayne Hemmingway of HemingwayDesign, who will discuss how to build communities rather than just houses, while architect René Sommer Lindsay will explain how Copenhagen’s Climate Neighbourhoods are increasing the city’s resilience to flooding.

The forum is also part of the Festival of Architecture programme, which is taking place throughout 2016 to celebrate the centenary of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
