Working closely with architects Penoyre & Prasad, Grant Associates created an exemplar design solution for a secondary school, as part of the DfES ‘Schools for the Future’ programme.

Our role explored the important relationship between the inside and outside school environments and studied ways of designing school landscapes which provide a richer and more stimulating learning environment and reflect the needs and expectations of the wider community.

A multi-layered site layout for the school is proposed, to give a clear and unique identity and create a stimulating and memorable scheme.

The scheme offers a range of different spaces that can be used for formal sport, play, unknown games, lounging, musing, recreation, outdoor teaching, shade, shelter, seating, servicing, access, parking and wildlife habitat.
