Park Hill Sheffield, an iconic listed building and important example of post war British Modernism, is being re-invigorated and brought up to 21st century building standards.
Following an open competition in 2005, Grant Associates has been working with developer Urban Splash and Sheffield City Council, alongside architects Hawkins Brown and Studio Egret West, on the masterplan and phased delivery of the regeneration. Our role is to radically change the public realm and landscape setting of the building.
- Landscape plan addresses issues of activated ground floors, useable and useful external spaces, openness, security and surveillance as well as beauty, sensory delight and ecology
- Improved connectivity with the city and a clearer circulation network through the estate establishes a characterful, welcoming landscape with a powerful transformational quality
- Integrated shared space network and extensive planting infrastructure alongside an improved path system and groupings of open terraces
- Phase 1 public realm completed in 2011 and the first residents moved in during January 2013
