Corby Cube

Commendation in The Civic Trust Awards 2012

Catalyst Corby is the regeneration initiative for Corby town centre. The project establishes a new civic heart for the town and Borough through the creation of a 21st Century Town Hall known as The Corby Cube and a new town square.

This urban square provides a place of welcome and a new sense of community focus for the town. It is a simple, flexible space, humanly scaled and open to adaptation for differing uses through the year.

The square also establishes a green connection to the adjoining ancient woodland and links the Cube building to the new swimming pool. It responds to the notion of civic pride through a reinterpretation of traditional formal planting displays and distinctive paving design.

The Corby Cube also forms a primary component of the Corby Walk. This provides a strategic urban link across the town, connecting the principle civic spaces and public facilities with Corby’s new rail station.
