Grant Associates to present at Bath’s inaugural TEDx event

Andrew Grant, director and founder of landscape architect Grant Associates, is one of twelve speakers who will present at Bath’s first ever TEDx event.

Entitled ‘Light up the Future’, the TEDxBath talk will take place in the beautiful surroundings of Bath Abbey on 29 September 2018, 1pm-5-30pm.

Speakers from a diverse range of backgrounds and professional disciplines will explore a broad range of topics concerning Bath’s future, including social welfare, transport, mental health and the city’s character.

Andrew’s presentation ‘Landscape Cities – is Bath one?’, will focus on the interconnectivity of nature, place, people and identity in the urban context of the city.

Drawing on his extensive landscape design experience, Andrew will touch on Grant Associates’ international projects, including Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay and other more local examples such as Bathscape and Forest of Imagination, which is returning to Bath for its fifth consecutive year and coincides with the TEDx event.

The pop-up arts event will take place 28-30 September 2018 and see spaces in Kingsmead Square, down Avon Street to the River Avon at Bath Quays North, all transformed into a series of ‘Future Forests’ designed to spark people’s imaginations.

‘Light up the Future’ is being coordinated by a team of volunteers led by Rhodora Baguilat, a registered nurse, and Geoff Rich, managing partner at architect Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios.

TEDx is a not-for-profit, locally organised event that follows the format and content guidelines of the hugely successful TED Talks – a showcase for speakers presenting inspired, well-formed ideas in less than eighteen minutes.
